Hi Reader, Yudi here, You apply. You wait. You see "application viewed." Then nothing. Sound familiar? Here is the problem. Applying through a portal puts you in a pile with 400 other people. And if you are an international student, the sponsorship filter often removes you before any human even reads your name. The students who are actually getting interviews are not applying more. They are reaching the HR contact or hiring manager directly. Today I am going to show you exactly how to do that using Claude. Takes 5 minutes. No paid tools. No manual Google searching. Let me walk you through it step by step. Before I show you the exact steps, I have something special to share with you. Why this matters even more if you need sponsorshipWhen you apply cold, a recruiter often sees "needs sponsorship" and moves on. You never know it happened. But when you send a direct message first, you become a real person with a name before anyone checks a visa box. You get to show your value before the filter kicks in. That is the difference this makes. How to set it up (one time only)Step 1: Go to claude ai and open a new chat Log in and start a fresh conversation. Everything happens inside this one chat. Step 2: Click the connector icon near the chat box It looks like a plug or a small grid. Click it and look for "Manage Connectors" or "Add Tools." Step 3: Search for "Vibe Prospecting" and install it Once it appears, click Connect or Install. Now here is the part most people miss. After installing, you need to turn the toggle ON for your current chat. Just installing is not enough. If the toggle is off, nothing will work. Make sure it is green and active before you move to the next step. That's it. Setup done. You only do this once. The prompt to copy and useOnce Vibe Prospecting is active, paste this into Claude and press Enter: "Use Vibe Prospecting and get me 10 Hiring Manager contacts who are actively hiring in [Field] for [Internship / Full-Time Jobs] in [City/Country]. I need a consolidated list of people with their contacts, LinkedIn, and Email, properly compiled in an HTML Dashboard." Before you send it, replace the three parts in brackets: [Field] is your target job area. Be specific. "Data Analyst" works much better than just "Tech." Other examples: Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Software Engineering. [Internship / Full-Time Jobs] pick whichever you are looking for right now. [City/Country] is where you want to work. You can write a city like Seattle or Austin, a country like US or India, or just write Remote. Example of a filled-in prompt: "Use Vibe Prospecting and get me 10 HM contacts who are actively hiring in Data Analytics for Full-Time Jobs in Seattle. I need a consolidated list of people with their contacts, LinkedIn, and Email, properly compiled in an HTML Dashboard." Hit Enter. Claude does the rest automatically in about 15 to 30 seconds. What you get backClaude gives you a downloadable HTML file. Open it in any browser and you will see a clean dashboard with:
No messy spreadsheet. No cross-referencing tabs. Everything you need to reach out is right there. How to reach out without getting ignoredFinding the contact is step one. What you write to them is step two, and it is the part that actually decides whether you get a reply. Most people send something like: "Hi, I am looking for opportunities and would love to connect." Nobody replies to that. It says nothing about who you are or why you are reaching out to them specifically. Here is a simple structure that works: Line 1: Say something specific about their company or the role they are hiring for. Show them you actually looked. One sentence is enough. Line 2: Tell them the one most relevant thing about you. Not your whole background. Just the one thing that connects you to what they need. For example: "I have two years of experience in data analysis using Python and SQL, which seems directly relevant to the analyst role your team posted this week." Line 3: Make a simple, low-pressure ask. "I have already applied through the portal. Would you be open to a short call if my background looks like a fit?" That is it. Short. Specific. Easy to say yes to. One thing specific to international students: You do not need to lead your message with the visa question. But if you want to get ahead of it, one simple sentence works well: "I am on OPT and can start work authorization immediately without requiring initial sponsorship." That removes uncertainty without making it the focus of your message. How to make this a weekly system, not a one-time thingOne search gives you 10 contacts. But the real power is in running this consistently. Run the prompt every week. The database updates regularly so you will see fresh contacts and new hiring activity each time. If you feel like you are running out of leads in one city, switch to a country-level search. "Data Analyst, Full-Time, US" opens up a much larger pool than Seattle alone. Before you write to anyone, take 2 minutes to check H1BGrader or MyVisaJobs. These sites show you which companies have actually sponsored international students before. Companies with a strong H-1B filing history are worth prioritizing. They already know the process and are less likely to back out over visa uncertainty. Keep a simple Google Sheet to track who you contacted, when you sent the message, and whether you heard back. Without this, you will lose track of warm conversations and sometimes accidentally message the same person twice. What to do when they don't replyMost people will not reply to your first message. That is normal. It is not personal. Wait 5 to 7 days. Then send one short follow-up. Something like: "Just following up in case this got buried. Still very interested and happy to share more if helpful." That is all. Do not follow up more than twice. Move on and keep building your pipeline. Here is the math that makes this worth doing: if you reach 10 people a week and 2 reply and 1 of those becomes a real conversation, you have had 4 real conversations by the end of the month. 4 conversations that never would have happened if you only applied through portals. That is how this compounds. Do this today. It takes 5 minutes. Run the search, find 10 contacts, pick the 3 most relevant ones, and send a short message before you sleep tonight.
