Here is the question most students get wrong before they even apply.

"What is a US Masters going to cost me?"

You probably have a number in your head. Your consultant gave it to you. Maybe your friend mentioned it. Maybe you saw a university website and added up the tuition fees.

That number is wrong.

Not because you made a math mistake. Because nobody gave you the full picture.

Your consultant told you tuition. Maybe housing. Maybe flights.

What they did not tell you is that the true cost of a US Masters can range anywhere from $76,000 to $171,000, depending on which university you pick, which city you live in, and how you plan the two years.

That is not a typo.

And here is the part that really stings: most students only find this out after they get here.

If you are making 12 lakhs, that is 24 lakhs you will not earn while you are studying. If you are making 30 lakhs, that number doubles. That is a real cost. And most students never count it.

This matters because whether a US Masters is worth it depends entirely on how you run the math, not how excited you are about the idea.

I have seen people pay off their entire loan within three months of graduating.

I have also seen people sit without a job for over a year after finishing their degree. Same degree. Very different outcomes.

The difference is almost always how early and how clearly they planned.
